About Your Session, and How to Prepare
1. Avoid a haircut the same week as your portrait session.
2. Go easy on makeup. A light foundation, mascara, and a lip gloss are all you need to look polished. If we are doing a more stylized/glamorous/fashion type session, then you may certainly glam it up!
3. Get a fresh manicure or remove chipped polish from fingers and toes. This is VERY important! Chipped nails are a pain to edit out, and will cost extra.
4. Bring combs, hair accessories and makeup for any touchups. Be sure to bring a lip gloss to keep lips fresh.
5. Choose outfits that flatter your body type. Watch spaghetti straps with bra straps showing. Don't wear anything too tight, or too loose. Well-fitting clothes will make your portraits look polished and lovely. Check out Pinterest for outfit ideas. Again, keep it simple--no bright pinks/reds/lime greens--anything too pigmented can throw off an image. Bring a variety of outfits to choose from, and wear a cami for quick-change options out "in the field." If you are booking a family session, then pay attention to how your outfits will coordinate. Choose colors that compliment each other, without getting too "matchy." And make sure your clothes are pressed!
6. Drink plenty of water for clear and vibrant skin.
7. I would not advise getting a spray tan the day of or the day prior as sometimes the spray does not work well with skin tones and also, makes it very hard to edit your skin while still looking natural. Sunburned and peeling skin is even worse. Wear sunscreen!
8. Guys be careful shaving so as not to cut yourself.
9. Get a good night's sleep the night before your big day.
10. Please tweeze your eyebrows, and make sure your eye makeup looks neat for the many up close shots I will take.
11. Play Sports? Dance? Have a music hobby? Here's your chance to shine with incorporating those into your portraits. Bring anything along with you that you think you may want to see used in your photos.
12. Do not eat anything that will stain your teeth prior to your session and please brush your teeth before session. Don't worry about whitening, though. I can take care of that and it's included in your edited package.
